Senior Tax Manager - HNW
San Francisco, CA
$160k – $220k
Individual / HNWI
Hybrid
An established CPA firm in San Francisco, serving high net worth individuals and partnerships (most clients in the $20M to $1bn range), is hiring a senior tax professional with genuine partnership potential. This is not audit work, not international work, and not a compliance mill. It is complex, end to end tax work for serious wealth, and the firm has a track record of promoting from within: a senior manager hired six years ago made partner in that time.
The role
You will take ownership of a book of high net worth individual and partnership tax clients, working directly with them rather than through layers of review. You will report straight to the managing partner, who runs an open door office, staff walk in and talk to her regularly, and the firm shares its financials internally rather than keeping people in the dark. The firm works alongside an affiliated small law firm on estate and real estate matters for shared clients, so you will see the full picture of a client's wealth rather than one slice of it.
What you will need
15 or more years of relevant tax experience, with deep individual and high net worth tax work, no interest in audit or international.
Active CPA license. No exceptions.
A stable work history at a firm larger than a small shop, a 30 to 40 person firm or Big 4 background both work.
Polished, client-facing presence. These are high end clients and you will be in front of them.
Genuine interest in building toward partnership, not just another lateral move.
What is on offer
Compensation up to roughly $220,000 depending on experience.
Employer funded retirement contributions worth close to 10% of salary from year two onward
Health insurance, plus a fully employer funded HSA.
Hybrid work arrangement once you are established with clients, typically after three to six months.
A flat, down to earth culture despite the client roster. No pretense, no politics for its own sake.
A real, precedented path to partnership for the right person.
